A Guide To Choosing Jewellery As A Gift

As you will know if you follow my blog, I love my jewellery. Personally, I think that no matter what the occasion, jewellery makes the most incredible gift. That being said, I do realise just how tricky shopping for jewellery can be. If you don’t know how to find that perfect piece that your friend or relative will love, it can be an absolute nightmare.

However, if you know what you are doing, you can make jewellery shopping a little easier. To make gift shopping a little  easier, I thought I would share some tips with you, below:

Start with the piece

First things first, think about the type of jewellery you would like to get them. Do you plan on buying your friend a beautiful necklace, a stylish bracelet of a pretty pair of earrings? Think about the type of jewellery you have in mind as a gift, and consider whether they’ll appreciate it.

Don’t just think about regular pieces, like earrings and necklaces. If your friend or relative has other piercings, such as a nose or helix piercing, consider getting her a gift for that. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can’t get beautiful pieces of jewellery for these types of piercings. There are various designs to choose from for all sorts of piercings.

Choose the perfect material

Once you have decided on the piece of jewellery you want to get them, the next step is to select the perfect material. From popular choices of silver and gold to more simplistic options like wood, there are so many materials to choose from.

When it comes to picking the material, take your friend or relative’s colourings into account. For people with cool colourings, silver or white gold tend to work well. For warm colourings – red or warm blonde hair, yellow and rose gold tend to work well, as do wooden pieces. It’s also important to take into account any allergies the person you are buying for might have. If you are unsure about this, always opt for a hypoallergenic option.

Pick a style

Jewellery comes in all sorts of styles, so choosing the perfect piece can often be tricky. The key to jewellery buying success comes from ensuring that you know the personal style of the person that you are buying for.

Don’t buy for your style, as we all have our own personal tastes. Think about how your friend or relative dresses, and use their style to help you select the perfect piece. Ask yourself, does she have a classic style or does she prefer to be more contemporary? (This will help you to decide what the perfect style of jewellery is to buy for her, so it’s worth working out.

Hopefully, these useful tips and ideas will make finding that perfect piece of jewellery a little easier. Be choosy about what you opt for, pick the perfect material and make sure that you take her style into account, and you can choose the most amazing piece.

  1. Copper and ros-gold jewellery are really in fashion here in Scandinavia🙂 I would recommend that aswell.
Really like your blog post🙂 looking forward to more

  2. I love jewelry for myself and I am careful to make sure I use brands that are decent. If I am buying for someone special I try to get real jewelry and walmart has some decent ones. Kmart too!

  3. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry on a consistent basis so I really love when I get new pieces for gifts if they are sturdy and simple. I don’t like accent pieces to be picked out for me because they just usually are not in my taste.

  4. Great tips! You see, I’m not that really of a fashionista and so it is tough for me sometimes to find the right jewellery. I’ll keep in mind your tips as I go shopping this holiday season.

  5. Great tips! I love long necklaces – just something about them completes an outfit! Since I wear them so often I think everyone knows they are my favorite. I try to see everyone’s style so I can pick an appropriate gift.

  6. These are some really great tips. My sister in law wants jewelry for Christmas and we have opposite tastes. It’s hard not to automatically go for something I want.

  7. I absolutely love this guide – great tips! I don’t have many women outside my sister and a few close friends to shop for but it always helps to know just in case! Thank you for sharing this wonderful guide!🙂

  8. You’re right, you can never go wrong with giving someone jewelry as a gift. No matter what the occasion. I find it helpful to pay close attention to the jewelry they already wear on a regular basis to get an idea of the style that they would most enjoy wearing.

  9. Such great tips! I don’t buy jewelry for friends and family unless I know what they like. Usually before Christmas I will pay attention to what they are wearing, so I can get an idea of their personality.

  10. I haven’t bought jewelry as a gift in years! I love the idea of thinking of other pieces besides necklaces and earrings to gift out to people. These are all great ideas for gifting jewelry so much to consider.

  11. I love giving and receiving jewelry as a gift! But you are right – you really have to think about the tastes of the person you are giving to – I like small delicate jewelry in silver and platinum – I’m allergic to gold! Great tips!
